Home Find: Our New Screen Porch
We learned quickly when buying a home that it trying to decorate the whole house can become costly and time consuming. So, after we purchased a few things we needed (and wanted), we started our house fund! This fund covers any repairs, updates, fees, and decorating we wanted to do around the house, and each month we put a little away to make sure we have a safety net. Since Memorial Day came with some sales for outdoor furniture and decor, we decided to spruce up our side porch with some of the money we had saved so we could enjoy it this summer. We already had this chair set that was on our apartment balcony. We purchased this from Target a few years ago, but they still have similar pieces in store! It's easy to clean when pollen hits, and has held up really well. Just by adding some pillows, rug, and lanterns, we easily transformed this space into something we now use everyday.
The grey cushions came with the chair set, but could easily be replaced if we wanted a new color. I love all things neutral (if you haven't been able to tell), but I loved how these pillows had just the pop of color we needed.
While I love fresh plants, this side of the house isn't ideal for growing something in the porch. Plus, I didn't want to have to keep one more plant alive. So, faux trees to the rescue! I have not been able to find this one we purchased online, but if you go to Target, it's in the patio section. The lanterns added a fun touch, just remember to get LED lights to put in them. In South Carolina, those candles will melt very quickly.
Of course we had to include a picture of our sweet Lucy, who will be 3 months old on Friday! She is currently showing off the outdoor rug we added from Threshhold. Because our house is Duke blue (my grandfather would be so proud), a bright color rug could clash. Instead, we picked this grey patterned one with just the right pop of color.
We didn't think this would be a room we would spruce up this summer, but since Memorial Day weekend, we've sat out there almost every night. Plus, it makes for beautiful entrance when we welcome people into our home! Shop below for the items we added, plus a few more we considered when picking things out.
